Mission: Striving to reduce homelessness Our purpose and ultimate goal is to raise public awareness and to support the homeless in the Owensboro area. We strive to provide resources to address and someday end homelessness, while serving homeless people with respect, integrity, and grace. Aid the Homeless, Inc. sponsors numerous community events to raise money to help support several local area homeless shelters. Even though in 2010 CNN Money magazine named Owensboro among the “TOP 100” Places to live in the United States, and Business-Week Magazine ranked Owensboro the #1 place to raise your children in Kentucky, homelessness remains a reality for many in our community. Aid the Homeless, Inc., a Kentucky public charity, and a 501 c-3 not-for profit organization, was established by the Greater Owensboro Realtor® Association (GORA). GORA provides administrative services and the funds necessary for operational expenses to support Aid the Homeless programs and events, so that 100% of outside donations are actually used to benefit the shelters.
